History:
Romeoville station opened on January 29, 1996, as part of the Heritage Corridor extension. It aimed to provide commuter rail access to the growing southwest suburbs of Chicago. Prior to the Heritage Corridor, the area lacked Metra service.

The station consists of two side platforms serving two tracks. Amenities include a heated waiting room, restrooms, and a ticket vending machine. Parking is available for commuters. The station is ADA accessible.
