Peter Jones (footballer, born 1949)
Peter Jones (born 17 March 1949) is a Welsh former professional footballer who played as a defender.
Jones began his career at Cardiff City, making his debut in the Football League in 1967. He became a regular in the Cardiff defence and was known for his strong tackling and commitment. He won the Welsh Cup with Cardiff City in 1968, 1969 and 1970.
In 1974, Jones moved to Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £60,000. He spent three seasons at White Hart Lane, making over 100 appearances for the club. He was a member of the Tottenham team that reached the 1974 UEFA Cup Final, although they lost to Feyenoord.
After leaving Tottenham in 1977, Jones joined Peterborough United. He spent one season at London Road before retiring from professional football.
Following his retirement, Jones worked as a coach and scout.
