Doctrine (album)
Doctrine is the debut studio album by American rock band Spineshank, released in 1998 on Roadrunner Records. The album is considered a part of the nu metal genre.
The album features a blend of industrial metal and groove metal elements, characterized by heavy guitar riffs, electronic samples, and Jonathan Davis-esque vocal deliveries from vocalist Jonny Santos. Lyrically, the album touches upon themes of social alienation, technology, and inner turmoil.
While not a major commercial success upon its initial release, Doctrine helped establish Spineshank within the burgeoning nu metal scene and garnered them a dedicated fanbase. It includes the singles "Detached" and "Stain," which received some radio airplay and MTV exposure. The album is known for its raw and aggressive sound, and its influence can be heard in later industrial metal and nu metal acts.
