One on One (Cheap Trick album)
One on One is the sixth studio album by American rock band Cheap Trick, released in 1982. The album marked a notable shift in sound for the band, incorporating a more polished and radio-friendly production style. It was produced by Roy Thomas Baker, who had previously worked with Queen.
The album features the singles "If You Want My Love" and "She's Tight." "If You Want My Love" became Cheap Trick's first and only Top 10 hit in the United States, peaking at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. "She's Tight" also performed well, reaching the Top 40.
While One on One achieved commercial success due to its hit singles, some fans and critics felt that the album deviated too far from the band's earlier, more raw and energetic sound. The album reached number 39 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The album's track listing includes:
- I Want You
- One on One
- If You Want My Love
- Oo La La La
- Lookin' Out for Number One
- She's Tight
- Time Is Runnin'
- Saturday at Midnight
- Love's Got a Hold on Me
- I Want You to Want Me 'Live' (Reissue bonus track)
The members of Cheap Trick at the time of the album's release were Robin Zander (vocals, rhythm guitar), Rick Nielsen (lead guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Tom Petersson (bass, backing vocals), and Bun E. Carlos (drums, percussion). Tom Petersson temporarily left the band soon after the album's release.
