Nyan Win (politician, born 1942)
Nyan Win (born 1942) is a Burmese politician and a member of the National League for Democracy (NLD). He served as a legal advisor to Aung San Suu Kyi and was a spokesperson for the NLD.
Nyan Win was arrested and imprisoned multiple times under the military junta that ruled Myanmar. He was a political prisoner for many years due to his involvement with the pro-democracy movement.
Following the NLD's landslide victory in the 2015 general election, Nyan Win played a significant role in the transition of power. He served as a key figure in the party's communications and strategy.
Nyan Win passed away on July 21, 2021, due to complications from COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Myanmar, further compounded by the political instability following the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état. His death was a significant loss to the NLD and the pro-democracy movement in the country.
