Nomads (1986 film)
Nomads is a 1986 American horror film directed by John McTiernan, starring Pierce Brosnan, Lesley-Anne Down, and Anna-Maria Monticelli. The film follows a French anthropologist living in Los Angeles who is attacked and possessed by the spirit of a nomad warrior.
The story begins with the anthropologist, Jean-Charles Pommier (Brosnan), dying in a hospital emergency room. Before his death, he transfers his memories and experiences to Dr. Eileen Flax (Down). Flax then experiences the last few days of Pommier's life through his eyes, revealing his encounters with a group of dangerous and mysterious nomads terrorizing Los Angeles.
These nomads, led by the menacing character known as Les Autres (Adam Ant), are not literal wanderers but a supernatural force of evil, preying on the city's underbelly. Pommier becomes their target after witnessing their crimes, and he is cursed to see them for who they truly are.
As Dr. Flax relives Pommier's experiences, she must unravel the mystery of the nomads and fight to prevent them from claiming another victim, as well as protecting herself from their influence. The film explores themes of urban decay, the clash between cultures, and the pervasive nature of evil. Nomads is noted for its atmospheric visuals, its exploration of unseen forces in urban environments, and its early role in McTiernan's career before his success with films like Predator and Die Hard.
