Nababan

Nababan is a Batak surname originating from the Toba Batak people of North Sumatra, Indonesia. It is part of the larger Siahaan clan, which is one of the nine original clans (marga) descended from Si Raja Batak, the mythological ancestor of the Batak peoples. The Nababan lineage traces its descent through the Siahaan line. Individuals bearing the Nababan surname are traditionally considered to be part of the patrilineal kinship system characteristic of Batak society. The name is prevalent throughout North Sumatra and among the Batak diaspora.
