NGC 3941

NGC 3941 is a lenticular galaxy located in the constellation Ursa Major. It was discovered on March 19, 1790, by William Herschel. The galaxy is approximately 50 million light-years away from Earth.

NGC 3941 is classified as a lenticular galaxy (type SA(rs)0/a), indicating it possesses characteristics of both spiral and elliptical galaxies. It has a prominent central bulge surrounded by a disk, but lacks well-defined spiral arms. The "(rs)" notation suggests the presence of a weak ring-like structure within the disk.

It is a member of the Ursa Major Cluster, a relatively loose group of galaxies. The galaxy is relatively faint, with an apparent magnitude of around 11.

Observations of NGC 3941 have revealed the presence of a supermassive black hole at its center. The mass of this black hole is estimated to be millions of times the mass of the Sun. Studies of the galaxy's stellar population and gas content continue to contribute to our understanding of galaxy evolution.
