My Everything (Anita Baker album)
My Everything is the seventh studio album by American R&B/soul singer Anita Baker, released on September 7, 2004, by Blue Note Records. This marked Baker's return to recording after a ten-year hiatus following a contract dispute with her former label, Elektra Records.
The album's title reflects Baker's personal life and the inspiration she drew from her family and faith during her time away from the music industry. My Everything showcases Baker's signature smooth vocals and sophisticated arrangements, blending elements of classic soul, jazz, and gospel.
The album features production from Baker herself, as well as Barry Eastmond and George Duke. It includes original songs like "You're My Everything" and "How Could You", alongside covers of songs such as "Men in My Life".
My Everything received generally positive reviews from critics, with many praising Baker's vocal performance and the album's overall quality. It debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 chart and number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Several singles were released from the album, including "You're My Everything" and "How Could You."
