Mogulones
Mogulones are a genus of extinct trilobites belonging to the family Ptychopariidae. These marine arthropods lived during the Cambrian period. Key features of Mogulones include a generally subrectangular cephalon (head shield), a segmented thorax, and a pygidium (tail shield) typically smaller than the cephalon. The glabella, the raised central lobe of the cephalon, is often prominent and may feature glabellar furrows. Mogulones species exhibit variations in the size and shape of their cephalic border, genal spines (if present), and the number of thoracic segments. Their fossils are found in Cambrian-aged rocks in various regions, contributing to our understanding of the diversity of life forms during the Cambrian explosion. Specific species within the Mogulones genus are identified based on detailed morphological characteristics analyzed by paleontologists.
