Degenhart
Degenhart Glass was an American glass company known for its pressed glass novelties, particularly small glass animals and paperweights. Founded by Elizabeth (Betty) Degenhart in 1947 in Cambridge, Ohio, the company continued production after her death in 1978 under different ownership, but ceased operations in 2008.
Degenhart glass is highly collectible due to its distinctive colors, often incorporating slag glass and experimental batches. Betty Degenhart was known for her innovative use of color combinations and for keeping detailed records of her glass recipes, though many of these recipes remain closely guarded secrets. A signature heart-shaped mark is often found on Degenhart pieces, though its presence isn't guaranteed, especially on earlier productions. The glass often features swirling patterns and variations in color intensity. The Degenhart Paperweight and Glass Museum in Cambridge, Ohio, preserves and showcases examples of the company's output.
