Milk and Honey (Israeli group)
Milk and Honey was an Israeli vocal group that won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1978 with the song "A-Ba-Ni-Bi." The group consisted of Reuven Gvirtz, Yehuda Tamir, and Gali Atari.
"A-Ba-Ni-Bi" was a novelty song, the title and lyrics being based on the children's language "Bet Language," where the consonant "B" is inserted after each syllable. The song achieved significant international popularity following their Eurovision victory.
Although their win propelled them to fame, Milk and Honey's success was relatively short-lived. They continued to record and perform for a short period afterward, but never replicated the widespread success of "A-Ba-Ni-Bi." The group eventually disbanded. Gali Atari, however, continued to have a successful solo career.
The victory of Milk and Honey marked Israel's first win in the Eurovision Song Contest, cementing their place in the competition's history. The song "A-Ba-Ni-Bi" remains a well-known and fondly remembered entry, particularly in Israel and Europe.
