Micranots

Micranots (also stylized as Micranots) was an American hip hop duo consisting of MCs I Self Devine and DJ Kool Akiem. Formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the late 1990s, Micranots gained a reputation for their intellectually driven lyrics, intricate rhyme schemes, and socially conscious themes. Their music often explored topics related to politics, philosophy, and the human condition.

The group released several EPs and singles before releasing their critically acclaimed debut album, Return of the Travellers, in 2000. The album showcased their distinctive sound and solidified their position within the underground hip hop scene. While Return of the Travellers remains their most well-known project, the duo continued to perform and record music together for several years.

Micranots' influence can be seen in their contribution to the alternative hip hop landscape, paving the way for other artists who prioritize lyrical complexity and meaningful subject matter. Although the group is no longer actively recording as Micranots, both I Self Devine and DJ Kool Akiem have continued their musical careers independently.
