Meriden and Solihull East (UK Parliament constituency)

Meriden and Solihull East is a proposed constituency of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It is scheduled to be created for the next general election, expected no later than January 2025.

The constituency is a result of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies conducted by the Boundary Commission for England. It largely replaces the existing Meriden constituency, with some changes to reflect population shifts and local government boundaries.

The proposed constituency encompasses areas of the Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, including the eastern part of Solihull itself, and the Meriden region to the east. It is expected to contain wards currently or formerly within the Meriden constituency, such as those surrounding Balsall Common, Berkswell, and Knowle, as well as wards in eastern Solihull town.

The creation of Meriden and Solihull East aims to ensure more equal representation of electors across constituencies in the United Kingdom, adhering to the commission's mandate to create constituencies with roughly equal populations. The proposals were subject to public consultation before being finalized. The sitting Member of Parliament for the current Meriden constituency will have the option to contest the new seat at the next election.

The political leanings of the new constituency are yet to be determined but are expected to be broadly similar to the existing Meriden constituency, which has historically been a Conservative-held seat. However, changes in ward composition may influence the electoral outcome.
