Megan Hunt (politician)

Megan Hunt (born January 13, 1986) is an American politician and businesswoman serving as a Nebraska State Senator for District 8, representing a portion of Omaha. She was first elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022.

Hunt is known for her progressive political views and advocacy on issues such as LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive rights, and economic justice. Prior to entering politics, she was a small business owner, founding and operating the shop Dundee Cake in Omaha.

During her time in the Nebraska legislature, Hunt has sponsored and supported legislation related to gender identity protections, paid family leave, and affordable housing. She is a member of the Democratic Party. She is openly bisexual, making her one of the first openly LGBTQ+ members of the Nebraska legislature.
