Max Carl

Max Carl is an American rock and blues singer, songwriter, and keyboardist. He is primarily known for his work as a vocalist in various bands, including 38 Special, Grand Funk Railroad, and his own band, Max Carl and the Big Blues.

Carl began his career as a session musician and songwriter, contributing to numerous projects before gaining wider recognition. He joined 38 Special in 1987, replacing Donnie Van Zant as lead vocalist. During his time with 38 Special, he sang lead vocals on the hit song "Second Chance."

After leaving 38 Special in 1993, Carl joined Grand Funk Railroad, replacing Mark Farner as lead vocalist and guitarist. He has been a member of Grand Funk Railroad for many years, touring and performing their classic hits.

In addition to his work with 38 Special and Grand Funk Railroad, Carl has also released solo albums and continues to perform with his own band, Max Carl and the Big Blues. His musical style encompasses rock, blues, and soul, reflecting his diverse influences and experiences.
