Marco (1973 film)
Marco is a 1973 American musical film directed by Seymour Robbie and starring Desi Arnaz Jr. The film is a loosely adapted musical retelling of the life and travels of Marco Polo.
The plot follows Marco Polo's journey from Venice to the court of Kublai Khan in China. Along the way, he encounters various adventures and romantic interests. The film features musical numbers and elaborate sets and costumes intended to evoke the historical period.
While intended to be a family-friendly spectacle, Marco received largely negative reviews upon its release. Critics generally cited the film's simplistic storytelling, lackluster songs, and overall lack of historical accuracy as major flaws. The film was also a commercial failure. The cast included Zero Mostel, Jack Weston, and Oh Soon-Tek. The music and lyrics were by Sid Ramin and Arthur Altman.
