London Fields (film)

London Fields is a 2018 neo-noir mystery thriller film directed by Mathew Cullen. It is based on the 1989 novel of the same name by Martin Amis. The film stars Amber Heard, Billy Bob Thornton, Jim Sturgess, Theo James, and Cara Delevingne.

The film follows Nicola Six (Heard), a clairvoyant femme fatale who foresees her own murder and enters into relationships with three different men, each of whom she suspects is her potential killer. Samson Young (Thornton) is a terminally ill writer struggling with writer's block who becomes obsessed with Nicola and decides to write about her and her impending demise. Keith Talent (Sturgess) is a petty criminal and darts player, and Guy Clinch (James) is a wealthy and conventionally attractive man.

The film had a troubled production history, including disagreements between the director and producers over the final cut, a lawsuit filed by Amber Heard alleging the use of a body double without her permission and scenes that were not in the approved screenplay, and a countersuit filed against Heard. These legal battles significantly delayed the film's release.

London Fields received overwhelmingly negative reviews upon its eventual release, with critics citing issues with the plot, direction, and performances. The film was also considered a box office failure.
