Liz Chase
Liz Chase (1950 - 2018) was a Zimbabwean field hockey player and coach. She was a member of the Zimbabwe women's national field hockey team that won the gold medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. This victory was particularly notable as Zimbabwe was a late replacement for another team and had very little time to prepare.
Chase played as a midfielder for the team. Following her playing career, she became a coach and administrator within Zimbabwean hockey. Her contribution to the sport in Zimbabwe extended beyond her Olympic medal, encompassing the development of young players and the promotion of field hockey throughout the country. She is remembered as a key figure in the golden era of Zimbabwean women's field hockey.
