Line S6 (Nanjing Metro)
Line S6 of the Nanjing Metro, also known as the Ning句 Intercity Railway (宁句城际轨道交通), is a rapid transit line connecting Nanjing city center with Jurong in Zhenjiang. It is designated as a suburban line within the Nanjing Metro system.
The line commences at Maqun station (马群站) in Nanjing, where it interchanges with Line 2 and Line 12, and terminates at Jurong station (句容站) in Jurong. Line S6 primarily travels in an eastward direction.
The line is characterized by a mix of underground, elevated, and at-grade sections. Its construction aimed to enhance connectivity between Nanjing and Jurong, facilitating economic and social integration between the two cities. The line plays a significant role in regional transportation and supports the development of the Nanjing metropolitan area.
Line S6 utilizes electric multiple unit (EMU) trains, typically operating with a defined frequency during peak and off-peak hours. The line features multiple stations along its route, providing convenient access for passengers in various districts.
The planning and construction of Line S6 were part of a larger effort to expand and improve the Nanjing Metro system, catering to the increasing transportation demands of the region.
