Yu Tamura
Yu Tamura (田村 優, born January 9, 1989) is a Japanese rugby union player. He primarily plays as a fly-half or inside centre.
Tamura is a key member of the Japan national rugby union team, having represented his country at multiple Rugby World Cups including the 2015, 2019, and 2023 tournaments. He played a crucial role in Japan's historic victories at the 2015 World Cup, including their win against South Africa. He was also instrumental in Japan's impressive performance as hosts of the 2019 World Cup, where they reached the quarter-finals.
Prior to representing Japan, Tamura lived and played rugby in New Zealand. He has played for various club teams throughout his career, including NEC Green Rockets in Japan. He is known for his playmaking ability, tactical kicking, and goal-kicking accuracy. He has earned numerous caps for Japan and is considered one of the nation's most influential rugby players.
