Lee Frost (director)

Lee Frost (August 14, 1927 – December 22, 2007) was an American film director, cinematographer, and editor primarily known for his work in exploitation films of the 1960s and 1970s. His films often featured low budgets, graphic violence, and sexually suggestive content, catering to the drive-in theater market.

Frost began his career in the film industry as a cinematographer and editor, eventually transitioning into directing. He often worked under pseudonyms such as Robert L. Frost, Arthur Nelson, and others.

Some of his notable directorial credits include The Black Gestapo (1975), The Thing with Two Heads (1972), Angels' Wild Women (1972), Chrome and Hot Leather (1971), and Chain Gang Women (1971). He also worked on films such as Mondo Freudo (1966) and Hot Honey (1962). His work is often considered part of the blaxploitation and sexploitation genres.

Frost's films have a cult following among fans of exploitation cinema. While not critically acclaimed, his movies are recognized for their low-budget ingenuity and exploitation of topical social themes and sensationalistic content. He continued working in the film industry, primarily in editing and cinematography, until the late 1990s.
