Laughter (The Mighty Lemon Drops album)
Laughter is the second studio album by the British jangle-pop band The Mighty Lemon Drops, released in 1989. The album marked a change in sound for the band, incorporating more elements of psychedelic rock and heavier guitar riffs while retaining their signature melodic sensibilities. Critically, Laughter received mixed reviews, with some praising its experimental direction and others lamenting the departure from the purer jangle-pop of their debut album, Happy Head. Commercially, Laughter performed moderately well, reaching the lower regions of the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. Key tracks on the album include "Where Do We Go From Here?" and "Inside Out," both of which received radio airplay and helped to cement the band's status within the alternative rock scene of the late 1980s. The album's title itself is thought to be ironic, given the often melancholic and introspective lyrical themes explored within the songs.
