La Esperanza (prison)

La Esperanza is a prison located in Guatemala City, Guatemala. It is one of the largest prisons in the country and has historically housed a significant portion of Guatemala's incarcerated population, including those awaiting trial and those convicted of crimes.

La Esperanza, like many prisons in Latin America, has faced significant challenges including overcrowding, inadequate infrastructure, gang activity, and insufficient resources for prisoner rehabilitation.
