Khurshid Ahmad (scholar)
Khurshid Ahmad (born March 23, 1932, Delhi, British India) is a Pakistani Islamic economist, scholar, and politician. He is known for his work in the field of Islamic economics, particularly his contributions to developing theoretical frameworks and practical applications of Islamic finance.
Ahmad received his Master's degree in Economics from Government College, Lahore and a PhD in Economics from the University of Leicester. He has held various academic positions, including Professor of Economics at the University of Leicester, and has taught at numerous universities globally.
Beyond academia, Khurshid Ahmad has been active in public life. He served as a member of the Pakistani Senate and the National Assembly. He has also been involved in various Islamic organizations, advocating for the integration of Islamic principles into economic and social systems. He has authored and edited numerous books and articles on Islamic economics, Islamic banking, and contemporary Islamic issues. His works have been translated into several languages and are widely studied in Islamic finance and economics programs. He is considered a significant figure in the modern Islamic revivalist movement.
