Kao (crater)
Kao is a lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon. It is located to the southwest of the larger crater Daedalus, and northeast of Icarus.
The rim of Kao is somewhat eroded, and has a slight outward bulge along the eastern side. The inner walls are uneven slopes that lead down to a relatively level interior floor. There is a small craterlet located on the western inner wall. The crater lacks a central peak, or any other significant features of interest on the floor.
Kao lies within the South Pole-Aitken basin, an immense impact crater on the far side of the Moon.
The crater is named after Chinese physicist Kao Ping-Tse (Gao Pingzi).
