Juan Carlos Navarro (politician)

Juan Carlos Navarro McLeod (born July 2, 1961) is a Panamanian politician. He served as the Mayor of Panama City from 1999 to 2009, representing the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD).

Navarro's political career has focused primarily on urban development and environmental issues within Panama City. During his tenure as mayor, he initiated several projects aimed at revitalizing the city's infrastructure, promoting sustainable urban planning, and improving public services.

He was a candidate in the 2014 Panamanian presidential election, representing the PRD, but was defeated by Juan Carlos Varela. He also ran in the 2019 presidential election, again representing the PRD, but was defeated by Laurentino Cortizo. His political platform generally emphasizes social justice, economic equality, and environmental protection. His involvement in Panamanian politics continues, although he no longer holds elected office.
