Jonathan Nichols (Oklahoma politician)

Jonathan Nichols (born November 18, 1976, died July 16, 2023) was an American politician and attorney from the state of Oklahoma. A Republican, he served in the Oklahoma State Senate representing District 15, which included Norman and a portion of Oklahoma City.

Nichols was first elected to the Oklahoma Senate in 2011 in a special election following the resignation of former Senator Andrew Rice. He served until his death in 2023. During his time in the Senate, he served on several committees including Appropriations, Judiciary, and Public Safety. He often focused on issues related to criminal justice reform and state budget matters.

Prior to his election to the Senate, Nichols worked as an attorney. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

Nichols's death in 2023 was ruled a suicide. He was married and had children.
