John Symes (politician, born 1573)

John Symes (1573 – before 1636) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1621 and 1629.

Symes was born in Poundisford, Somerset, the son of John Symes. He matriculated at Oriel College, Oxford on 27 April 1593, aged 19, and was a student of the Middle Temple in 1595.

In 1621, Symes was elected Member of Parliament for Chipping Wycombe. He was elected MP for Bridport in 1624, 1625 and 1628.

His will was made on 24 March 1631 and proved on 16 May 1636, suggesting he died sometime between those dates. He married twice, first to Amy Horner and second to Elizabeth Colles.
