Jim McDonald (pitcher)

Jim McDonald (born March 30, 1939, in Hastings, Nebraska) is a former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1963 to 1972 for the St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Senators, New York Yankees, and Oakland Athletics.

McDonald was primarily a relief pitcher, known for his sidearm delivery. He was signed by the Cardinals as an amateur free agent in 1960 and made his major league debut on September 24, 1963. He pitched in 244 MLB games, compiling a career record of 22 wins and 13 losses with a 3.47 earned run average (ERA) and 27 saves. His most productive seasons were with the Washington Senators from 1967 to 1969.

After his playing career ended, McDonald was a pitching coach in the minor leagues.
