Jim Chu

Jim Chu (born in Shanghai, China) is a retired Canadian police officer who served as the Chief Constable of the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) from August 2007 to May 2015.

Chu joined the VPD as a patrol officer in 1979 and rose through the ranks, holding positions in various units including the Organized Crime Section, the Drug Squad, and the Planning and Research Section. He also served as Deputy Chief Constable before being appointed Chief Constable.

During his tenure as Chief Constable, Chu focused on issues such as public safety, crime reduction, and community engagement. He oversaw the implementation of several initiatives aimed at addressing homelessness, mental health issues, and drug addiction.
