Jeff Johnson (Minnesota politician)
Jeff Johnson (born February 12, 1966) is an American politician and attorney from Minnesota. He served as a Hennepin County Commissioner from 2009 to 2019. He is a member of the Republican Party.
Johnson served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1993 to 2001, representing District 41B. He was also a candidate for Minnesota Attorney General in 2006, losing to Lori Swanson. In 2014, he was the Republican nominee for Governor of Minnesota, challenging incumbent Governor Mark Dayton, but was defeated.
Before entering politics, Johnson worked as an attorney. He is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College and Georgetown University Law Center. As a Hennepin County Commissioner, he focused on issues such as property taxes, transportation, and public safety. His political positions are generally considered conservative.
