Istria (river)
Istria is an archaic or historical name for the Danube River. While "Danube" is the river's common and current designation, the name "Istria" appears in some ancient Greek and Roman texts, particularly in reference to its lower reaches, specifically the section flowing into the Black Sea. The term "Istria" as a designation for the Danube is now considered largely obsolete, with historical significance primarily. It is important not to confuse the river Istria/Danube with the Istrian Peninsula, located much further south.
