Husky (band)
Husky is an Australian indie folk band formed in Melbourne in 2010. The band is fronted by Husky Gawenda (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Gideon Preiss (vocals, keyboards, guitar). Their music is characterized by intricate vocal harmonies, layered instrumentation, and introspective lyrics.
Husky rose to prominence after winning the Triple J Unearthed competition in 2011, which led to their performance at the Splendour in the Grass music festival. Their debut album, Forever So, was released in 2012 to critical acclaim and commercial success in Australia.
Subsequent albums include Rucker's Hill (2014), Punchbuzz (2017), and Stardust Blues (2020). The band has toured extensively both domestically and internationally, playing at numerous festivals and venues.
Husky's musical style has been compared to artists such as Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, and Sufjan Stevens, but they have developed a distinctive sound that blends folk, indie rock, and pop influences. The band continues to release music and tour regularly.
