Hart Glacier (Greenland)
Hart Glacier is a glacier located in northwestern Greenland. It flows into Inglefield Fjord. The glacier is notable for its relatively high flow velocity compared to other glaciers in the region. Its drainage basin encompasses a significant portion of the Greenland ice sheet. Changes in the flow rate and mass balance of Hart Glacier are closely monitored as indicators of broader climate change impacts on the Greenland ice sheet. Studies have investigated the glacier's dynamics, including its interaction with basal meltwater and its contribution to sea level rise. Its location within Inglefield Fjord makes it susceptible to oceanic influences on its melt rate. The glacier is named after Stuart Hartshorne, an American organic chemist.
