Hale (band)
Hale is a Filipino alternative rock band formed in Manila, Philippines in 2004. The band is known for its melodic arrangements and emotionally driven lyrics, contributing significantly to the mid-2000s Philippine alternative rock scene.
History:
Hale was formed by Champ Lui-Pio (vocalist and guitarist) and Sheldon Gellada (drummer). They were later joined by Roll Martinez (guitarist) and eventually, Chino David (bassist). The band signed with EMI Philippines (later absorbed by Universal Music Philippines) and released their self-titled debut album in 2005. The album was a commercial success, featuring popular singles such as "Broken Sonnet," "The Day You Said Goodnight," "Blue Sky," and "Kung Wala Ka."
Their second album, Twilight, was released in 2006, continuing their success with singles like "Waltz," "Hide and Seek," and "Shooting Star." In 2008, they released their third album, Above, Over and Beyond, showcasing a slightly more experimental sound.
Hale disbanded in 2010. Champ Lui-Pio pursued a solo career and other ventures.
In December 2015, Hale announced their reunion and signed with Warner Music Philippines. They released their fourth album, Time and Space, in 2015, marking their return to the music scene. Since then, they have continued to perform and release new music.
