HMS Tweed (1759)
HMS Tweed was a 28-gun sixth-rate frigate of the Royal Navy, launched in 1759. She was built at Woolwich Dockyard to the dimensions laid down in the 1745 Establishment.
Tweed saw active service during the Seven Years' War and the American Revolutionary War. During the Seven Years' War, she participated in patrols of the English Channel and the North Sea, capturing several privateers.
In the American Revolutionary War, Tweed was deployed to North American waters, where she was involved in the blockade of American ports and the interception of enemy shipping. She participated in various naval engagements, contributing to the Royal Navy's efforts to suppress the rebellion.
The Tweed was eventually sold out of the Royal Navy in 1783.
