HMS Greyhound (1712)
The HMS Greyhound was a 20-gun sixth-rate frigate of the Royal Navy, launched in 1712. Built at Deptford Dockyard, she was one of the later vessels constructed to the 1711 Establishment. The Greyhound served primarily in patrols and convoy escort duties throughout her career. Notably, she was involved in actions against pirates in the West Indies. Her armament consisted of 20 guns, typically a mix of demi-culverins and smaller cannons. Information regarding her precise dimensions and crew complement is scarce, as comprehensive records from that period are often incomplete. The Greyhound remained in service until she was disposed of sometime in the 1730s. Further details on specific voyages, commanders, and significant events during her service are currently unavailable.
