HMS Chieftain (R36)

HMS Chieftain (R36) was a C-class destroyer of the Royal Navy that served during World War II. She was built by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, Greenock, and launched on 23 February 1945.

As part of the C-class, she was intended for service in the Pacific theatre, but the war ended before she could be deployed there. She was completed after the war and subsequently saw service in various roles, including anti-submarine warfare training and fleet exercises.

Chieftain's service included participating in several naval exercises and deployments throughout the 1950s and early 1960s. She was modernised during her career, including updates to her radar and sonar equipment.

She was eventually decommissioned and scrapped in 1966. While HMS Chieftain (R36) did not see combat during World War II, she played a significant role in the post-war Royal Navy, contributing to training and maintaining readiness.
