Gotland County (Riksdag constituency)
Gotland County is one of the 29 multi-member constituencies of the Swedish Riksdag. As the name suggests, it comprises the entirety of Gotland County. Due to its small population, Gotland County only elects two members to the Riksdag, making it one of the smallest constituencies in Sweden by representation.
Elections are held every four years, coinciding with the general elections for the Riksdag. The specific members elected to represent Gotland County change with each election, reflecting the varying political preferences of the electorate. The allocation of seats generally follows a proportional representation system, ensuring that parties receive representation roughly in line with their vote share within the constituency.
The elected representatives from Gotland County are tasked with representing the interests of the county's residents in the Riksdag. This includes advocating for issues important to the region, such as local economic development, infrastructure projects, and environmental protection. Their role involves participating in debates, drafting legislation, and voting on various policy matters.
