Gordy Coleman

Gordy Coleman (July 26, 1934 – March 14, 1994) was a Major League Baseball first baseman and outfielder. He played primarily for the Cincinnati Reds from 1959 to 1967, with brief stints for the Cleveland Indians in 1959 and the Houston Astros in 1968.

Coleman was known for his power hitting and his popularity with Reds fans, earning the nickname "Gordy" from them. He played a significant role in the Reds' success during the early 1960s, contributing offensively as a left-handed power hitter. His best season was 1961, when he hit 26 home runs and drove in 78 runs, helping the Reds win the National League pennant.
