George Ritchie (rugby union, born 1848)

George Ritchie (born 1848, date of death unknown) was a Scottish international rugby union player. He played as a forward.

Ritchie represented Scotland in one international match, against England on 5 February 1872 at The Oval. This was the second international rugby match ever played, following the first match between the same two nations the previous year. Scotland won the match, played with 20-a-side teams, by a single try to nil. Details of his club affiliation are currently unconfirmed, although records indicate he was likely associated with Edinburgh Academicals. Very little is known about his life outside of this single international appearance.
