George Riley (British Columbia politician)
George Riley (1902 – 1976) was a Canadian politician in British Columbia. He served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the riding of Vancouver-Burrard from 1933 to 1941, representing the Liberal Party.
Riley was born in Victoria, British Columbia. Before entering politics, he worked as a lawyer. He was first elected to the BC legislature in the 1933 provincial election and re-elected in 1937.
During his time in the legislature, Riley held the position of Attorney-General in the government of Premier Thomas Dufferin Pattullo from 1938 to 1941. As Attorney-General, he was responsible for the administration of justice in the province. He was also involved in negotiations with the federal government concerning financial matters and constitutional issues.
Riley was defeated in the 1941 provincial election. After leaving politics, he returned to his legal practice in Vancouver. He continued to be involved in community affairs and remained active in the Liberal Party.
