Gada River (Uele)

The Gada River, also known as the Uele River, is a significant river in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It is one of the major headstreams of the Ubangi River, a primary tributary of the Congo River.

The Uele River rises in the northeastern part of the DRC, near the border with South Sudan. Its general course is westward, flowing through dense tropical rainforests. The river is navigable for considerable distances, playing an important role in transportation and commerce for communities along its banks.

The Uele joins the Mbomou River near Yakoma to form the Ubangi River. The Ubangi then flows westward, forming a portion of the border between the DRC and the Central African Republic, before turning south to join the Congo River.

The Uele River and its surrounding basin are characterized by rich biodiversity, supporting a variety of plant and animal life. The region is also home to various indigenous communities who rely on the river for their livelihoods, including fishing, agriculture, and transportation. The river's watershed is subject to environmental pressures, including deforestation, agricultural expansion, and mining activities, which pose a threat to its ecological integrity and the well-being of local populations.
