Frondizi (surname)
Arturo Frondizi (1908-1995) was an Argentine lawyer, intellectual, and politician who served as President of Argentina from 1958 to 1962. His presidency was marked by developmentalist economic policies aimed at industrializing Argentina and attracting foreign investment. He also pursued a controversial policy of rapprochement with Peronism, which had been outlawed after the overthrow of Juan Perón. This policy, along with economic challenges and military opposition, ultimately led to his overthrow in a military coup. After his removal from office, Frondizi remained a significant figure in Argentine politics, advocating for national development and Latin American integration. His brother, Risieri Frondizi (1910-1969), was a prominent philosopher and rector of the University of Buenos Aires. The surname "Frondizi" is of Italian origin.
