Frank Oliver (rugby union)
Frank Oliver (born 10 June 1948, died 6 July 2011) was a New Zealand rugby union player and coach. A lock forward, Oliver represented Manawatu at provincial level and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, from 1976 to 1981. He played 43 matches for the All Blacks including 17 test matches. He captained the All Blacks in seven tests.
Following his playing career, Oliver moved into coaching, holding various roles including coaching Manawatu, the Central Vikings, and the New Zealand Colts. He was also involved in coaching roles with Super Rugby franchises, including the Hurricanes. Oliver was known for his direct and uncompromising style. His son, Anton Oliver, also played lock for Otago and the All Blacks.
