Foxy (album)
Foxy is the debut studio album by American hip hop artist Foxy Brown, released in 1996 on Def Jam Recordings. At the time of its release, Foxy Brown was seventeen years old.
The album's production was handled by a variety of producers including Trackmasters, DJ Clark Kent, and Tone Capone. Foxy is characterized by its raw, sexually suggestive lyrics and its incorporation of R&B and pop elements into a hardcore hip hop foundation.
Foxy was a commercial success, debuting at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. It was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album spawned several singles, including "Get Me Home" featuring Blackstreet, which achieved significant radio airplay and helped to solidify Foxy Brown's position in the hip hop landscape.
The album features guest appearances from artists such as Jay-Z, Blackstreet, and Kid Capri. Foxy is often cited as a significant album in the development of female MCs in hip hop, helping to pave the way for future generations of female rappers. While lauded for its commercial success and Foxy Brown's persona, the album also received criticism for its overt sexuality.
