Nanaimo (electoral district)
Nanaimo is a current federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons since 1997. It encompasses the city of Nanaimo and surrounding areas on Vancouver Island.
History
The riding was created in 1996 from parts of the Nanaimo—Cowichan and Comox—Alberni ridings. It was known as Nanaimo—Cowichan from 1997 to 2004. In 2003, the electoral district was renamed "Nanaimo—Alberni" and this lasted from 2004-2015. In 2013, it was renamed "Nanaimo."
Geography
The district primarily includes the city of Nanaimo, and generally the area north of the Cowichan Valley Regional District, south of the Regional District of Nanaimo.
Demographics
