Fat Joe
Fat Joe (born Joseph Antonio Cartagena on August 19, 1970) is an American rapper and actor from the Bronx, New York City. He began his music career in the early 1990s as a member of the hip hop group Diggin' in the Crates Crew (D.I.T.C.).
Joe achieved mainstream success as a solo artist with the release of his second album, Jealous One's Envy in 1995, which featured the hit single "Envy." He continued to release successful albums throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, including Don Cartagena (1998) and Jealous Ones Still Envy (J.O.S.E.) (2001), the latter featuring the Grammy-nominated single "What's Luv?" with Ashanti and Ja Rule.
Known for his distinctive vocal delivery and lyrical content often focused on street life and hustling, Fat Joe has collaborated with numerous prominent artists in the hip-hop and R&B genres. He is also the CEO of Terror Squad Entertainment.
Beyond his music career, Fat Joe has made appearances in films and television, and is known for his outspoken personality and commentary on social issues. He has also been involved in various philanthropic endeavors.
