Fabio Ceresa
Fabio Ceresa is an Italian mathematician and professor specializing in algebraic geometry, particularly moduli spaces of algebraic curves and abelian varieties. He is known for his contributions to the study of Jacobians and Prym varieties, and for his work on the Schottky problem, which aims to characterize the Jacobians of algebraic curves among all principally polarized abelian varieties.
Ceresa earned his Ph.D. from the University of Utah in 1983. He has held positions at various universities and research institutions and is currently a professor at the University of Turin.
His research interests also include topics such as the geometry of theta divisors and the study of curves on abelian varieties. He has published numerous articles in leading mathematical journals.
